IFSC Code Lookup
Find the Bank & Branch for Any IFSC

Enter an 11-character IFSC to see the bank, branch, address, MICR code and which payment systems the branch supports, from RBI's published IFSC list.

Branch details come from RBI's published IFSC list, via the open-source razorpay/ifsc dataset (release v2.0.62). An IFSC identifies a branch, not an account: to confirm an account number and its holder's name before you pay, use the Bank Account Verification API.

What is an IFSC code?

An IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) is the 11-character code that identifies a bank branch for electronic transfers in India: NEFT, RTGS and IMPS. It is printed on cheques and passbooks, and you need it, along with the account number, to send money to an account at that branch.

How an IFSC is structured

Characters Meaning Example (SBIN0000300)
1-4 Bank code SBIN (State Bank of India)
5 Always 0, kept for future use 0
6-11 Branch code 000300

Where the branch details come from

The lookup uses RBI’s published IFSC list, as compiled in the open-source razorpay/ifsc dataset. It covers more than 1.8 lakh branches and shows the bank, branch, address, city, district, state, MICR code and whether the branch takes NEFT, RTGS, IMPS and UPI payments. Branches open, close and merge, so for a large payment, confirm the details with the bank.

An IFSC is not proof of an account

A valid IFSC only tells you the branch exists. It says nothing about whether an account number is real, active or held by the person you expect. Before you pay a new supplier, employee or customer, check the account itself: a penny drop confirms the account and returns the holder’s name, and the Bank Account Verification API runs that check automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the IFSC of my bank branch?

On your cheque book, your passbook, or your bank’s internet banking app. You can then enter it here to confirm the branch details.

Why is my IFSC not found?

Usually because of a typo. The 5th character is always the digit zero, so the letter O there is a common mistake. A branch that merged into another bank may also have a new IFSC; ask the bank for the current one.

Can I use this IFSC lookup for bulk checks?

The tool is for one code at a time. To validate bank details in bulk during onboarding or payouts, use the Bank Account Verification API.

What happens to the IFSC I enter?

It is sent to veriqos.com only to look up the branch. IFSCs are public bank codes, not personal data.
